Inside Joke

Ahem.  I wonder how far up in the rankings MSU jumped yesterday.  Good game for Sparty.

I really knit fast when the Badgers are making me want to........grumble.

There was some good news.  Michigan won, and Virginia Tech won.  And for a Michigander, it's even good news that Michigan State won.

For those of you who dislike or ignore football and knitting---this is just a temporary aberration.  I'll be back to writing better drivel soon.  This is sort of directed at my two original Buds.

Progress report

Sometimes real life intervenes, and I go places, do things instead of sitting on my keester with a laptop in my lap.

Not too often, but on occasion.  This week I rode to the Big Airport to the South to fetch my niece on her flight  from Virginia.  It has been a proper treat to see her again, and there has been a lot of laughter.

I also saw a specialist this week who told me the minor problem that wasn't worrying me much---was probabaly nothing much.  (Ka-ching!)

But while I stayed home, in the heat, I amused myself by knitting socks.  They aren't warm and heavy on your lap, and this yarn is supposed to look like denim and will match one's blue jeans.  Kind of generic and useful for most anyone. 

I tried to photograph them both snapping and holding---I'm not short, but my arms just aren't long enough.

This question should probably be a whole different post, but I don't want to fire the first volley in a battle of the sexes.  BUT, have you seen the ad promoting a service which would enable watching multiple football games on one screen?  I love football and watch a lot of it, but can't figure out how I could possibly enjoy many more than one at a time.  Please feel free to tell me your thoughts about this situation.

Picture Project

At one point last summer, I was inspired by something I'd read to attempt to take a picture a day to record my year.

It was a nice idea, but camera carrying is not a natural activity for me.  Not to mention that I wasn't yet using a digital camera.  (I still love my camera that requires film, by the way.)  It takes really nice pictures, and I get to hold it up to my eye and peer through a little square aperature, like I've done for years.

Anyway, I digress. 

While Good Guy was recording the beauties of Hawaii, I was knitting a sock for Lynn.  She needed to be updated on its progress apparently.

He did get a shot of the surf without the sock, by the way, savvy photographer that he is.

Then, there's this interesting guy who joined us for lunch at an outdoor table at lunchtime.  Isn't he a beauty?  It was interesting to me that a great many of the flora and fauna that we consider native to Hawaii, were in fact introduced and have crowded native species out.  Some are being reintroduced by garden groups and horticulturists.

In addition to this handsome fellow, Hawaii also boasts the beautiful red cardinal and his khaki colored consort which we have here in Michigan.  It is always a treat to spot them here because they seem shy compared to our ubiquitous chickadees, finches, nuthatches, woodpeckers, robins, and mourning doves.
