Matisse was right when he said that inspiration comes while one is working.
I have been avoiding my workroom for the longest time, feeling guilty about an unfinished project that was held up by a design problem. ( I'd show you a picture if it wasn't a gift for someone who might someday read my old posts)
But that is neither here nor there. The really good news is that while my sisters were here for the weekend helping me sew squares for a charity project, something totally unrelated to my other project, I felt like finding the solution!
So as soon as they left, I got to work. I stacked the charity squares and all the uncut fabric, put it away, and gathered the materials for Stalled Project #1, and measured, and cut, and sewed, and photographed. And by golly, I think I can buy a batt and finish that puppy this next week.
The charity project won't suffer because the deadline for my part of it is the middle of August. No sweat. While stalled, I kept telling myself, "You'll be so happy when it's done..." And, for once, I was really right. I am already happy knowing that I WILL be done soon.
As we love to say, Woo-Hoo!
I am the WORST procrastinator on the PLANET when it comes to a task I am dreading. I put it off, and put it off, feeling guilty and pressured THE WHOLE TIME. Then, when I finally take myself in hand, FORCE myself to face the music and finish the dreaded task, I find that it wasn't nearly as difficult as I had feared and the relief of getting it finished is nearly overwhelming - - - or should I say underwhelming as it takes away all that anxiety.
ReplyDeleteWhew - - - - now, if I could ONLY learn the lesson and stop procrastinating.
Take no notice pf Keetha because it is, in fact, me who is the world champion procrastinator! I can ALWAYS think of something much more important that needs doing. If I can't then waiting for Someone Important to phone usually does the trick. Or at a pinch I can always tell myself "Well it's too late to start on it now but TOMORROW - well tomorrow NOTHING take priority...." That's REAL procrastinating and I've been doing it since before I knew the meaning of the word.
ReplyDeleteKeetha and Angie are not the biggest procrastinators, that would be me LOL
ReplyDeleteI hope that you don't don't hurt yourself with that batt and puppy! Congrats on being thisclose to finishing your project. Your heart and head will be so happy to have this off your mind.
